Connect A Digital Converter Box With A Vcr Or Dvd Recorder

A digital converter box works in conjunction with an analog TV to view over-the-air digital TV channels. Without a converter, an analog TV won't work with a traditional antenna or an "HDTV" antenna. This is because the antennas are basically the same. An older antenna works perfectly well to receive digital signals. The TV itself, or the converter, decodes the signals received by the antenna and produces video.

Instructions

1. Connect the over-the-air antenna into the "Antenna In" on the converter box. This may also be labeled "In" or "Cable" on some boxes.

2. Connect the converter box "Out To TV" port to the VCR or DVD's "Antenna In" or "Cable In" port. This will send the signal to the VCR from the digital converter box that has an antenna connected to it.

3. Use a second coaxial cable to run from the "Antenna Out" on the VCR to the back of the TV. Follow the converter box instructions to scan for channels.
