Your yard is your yard, and your yard sign is your yard sign.
Politics have always drawn a lot of passion in the United States. Many show their political allegiance by placing signs in their yards promoting their favorite candidates. However, because of the hardcore nature of some of those with a political bent, those who side with the opposition may choose to vandalize signs. A handful of ways, however, exist for the owners of political yard signs to prevent them from being damaged.
Instructions
1. Set up a motion-activated light outside. These flood lights turn on whenever someone or something moves in the range of the motion detector. When the flood light goes on, you will be alerted that someone is outside. If you notice that the light goes on, you can go outside to confront your visitor. Hopefully, the light will be all that you need to scare any vandals away from your yard signs.
2. Post another sign on your lawn that reads Beware of Dog or Smile! You're on Camera to scare vandals from stepping onto your lawn. Get as creative as you would like with the sign and make sure they are placed in an easily viewable area. If vandals feel they may get injured or leave evidence of their vandalism behind, they are more likely to leave your sign alone.
3. Set up a video camera to record all activity in your front yard. If your sign is stolen overnight, review the videotape to learn who stole your signs. If the person is recognizable, confront them with the evidence and explain to them that if they do not stop you will alert the police. However, if the person is not someone you recognize, take the tape to the police and file an official complaint. Now, police will keep an extra eye on all of the goings-on at your house.
4. Simply continue posting more political signs in your yard. In most cases, you can get the signs for free from the political campaign you are supporting. If so, simply continue posting a new one in your yard whenever vandals destroy or steal previous ones. Your ability to not get fazed will upset the vandals even more.
