Levolor offers a wide range of window coverings, but the name is most commonly associated with mini blinds. Mini blinds are a narrower variation of traditional venetian blinds, with the same adjustable slats for lighting control. Adding a Levolor mini blind to a double-hung window involves a basic installation procedure and is an easy project to enhance both privacy and shading.
Instructions
1. Remove the Levolor mini blind from its packaging, and separate the mounting clips from the headrail.
2. Measure inward from each side 2 1/2-inches and mark the top front edge of the window opening. These are the mounting bracket locations.
3. Hold a mounting clip centered on either location marked in Step 2, and mark the centers of the clip's two screw holes. Tap an awl or center punch into the screw centers marked, using a hammer. These points will act as pilot holes for the screws.
4. Repeat Step 3 for the remaining mounting clip(s).
5. Install the mini blind. Place the mini blind's headrail against the rear tab on the mounting clips, and snap it into the mounting clips by rotating the rail upward.
6. Insert the top hook on the blind's control rod over the adjustment loop near the end of the headrail. Rotate the control rod clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the blind's slats.
7. Lower the blind to its full length, and mark the end point of the blind's bottom rail at each side of the window opening. Raise the blind slightly using the pull cord, and lock it in place. Install the blind's hold-down clips to the wall at each mark, using the screws provided. Be certain to mount the hold-down clips with the small pin facing inward at each side. The blind's bottom rail has a small centered hole in each end that slips over these pins to hold the blind in place. Bend the bracket gently sideways to insert or release the pins in the bottom rail.
