Adjust A Delta Shower Faucet

Adjust a Delta Shower Faucet

Taking a cold shower is almost as bad as scalding when someone flushes the toilet. Delta's Scald Guard pressure balancing system eliminates both problems. When the water pressure drops on the hot or cold water lines supplying the shower faucet, the cartridge balances the flow to equalize the temperature automatically. Keeping the temperature consistent on a Delta shower faucet requires a periodic adjustment to the control dial. Anyone can make this adjustment, not just the professionals. It should only take 30 minutes.

Instructions

1. Remove the faucet's handle with a hex wrench, or a screwdriver on older models.

2. Remove the faucet's sleeve from the faucet body by hand to give yourself more room to work.

3. Pull the temperature adjustment off the cartridge stem and turn it left to lower the temperature, and right to raise the temperature.

4. Push the dial back on the stem.

5. Replace the faucet handle and test the water's temperature with a cooking thermometer. Repeat each step until you reach the desired temperature.

Tips Warnings

Each notch on the control dial is equal to approximately 3 degrees Fahrenheit.

If the setscrew is corroded and difficult to remove, soak a rag in vinegar and wrap it around the faucet's handle for an hour.

Setting the maximum temperature above 120 degrees can cause serious injury.
