Xm Installation

XM Radio in your vehicle, at home or anywhere in between.

XM Radio delivers over 180 channels of commercial-free music, plus live sports, exclusive entertainment, uncensored comedy and more. Because of the choices and the lack of commercials on XM Radio, it's popular with many people who are frustrated with regular radio--and easy to install whether you want to listen in your vehicle, at home, on the move or anywhere in between.

Instructions

1. Decide where you want to listen to XM Radio. There are products available that allow you to listen in your car, at home, in between or on the move.

2. Listen in your car with one of two options. If you have a more modern car, you can buy an XM tuner, which connects in-dash to your car audio system and lets you tune to XM Radio like you would any other radio station. Check whether your car audio system says it's XM-ready or SAT-ready. If it is, you will need to buy and install an XM Direct 2 tuner, or other XM tuner. Professional installation is recommended.

3. Choose an aftermarket Dock & Play or portable XM Radio if you want to listen in your vehicle and you don't have an XM-ready or SAT-ready audio system. There are various options available. The XM Snap in-vehicle radio installs instantly by plugging into your car's cigarette lighter adapter. If you choose a Dock & Play radio, such as the Xpress RCi, or a portable radio, such as the XMP3i, you install a dock that allows you to take your XM radio and listen to it in compatible docks in the home, office or in between.

4. Tune in to XM Radio at home with either a dedicated at-home XM tuner or an XM Home Dock or Portable Speaker Dock for a portable or Dock & Play XM Radio. If your home audio system is XM-ready, all you need to do to listen to XM Radio at home is add an XM Mini-Tuner or XM Direct Home Tuner. These will allow you to tune in to XM radio directly through your home audio system, as you would any other integrated audio component.

5. Listen to an XM Portable or Dock & Play radio in your car. You can use the same radio and subscription to listen at home by purchasing a compatible XM Home Dock. This plugs directly into your home audio system through RCA cables and plays like any auxiliary audio component. You can also use your Dock & Play or portable XM radio in the Portable Speaker Dock, which incorporates powered speakers so you can use it anywhere in the home--or in the yard, beach or park--by installing batteries.

6. Finally, you can listen to XM Radio via the SIRIUS XM App for smartphones, including the iPhone, iPod, Android and BlackBerry. This can be downloaded from siriusxm.com and is activated after signing up for a monthly subscription. You can also tune into XM radio while you drive, received through your iPhone or iPod Touch via the XM satellite signal with the XM SkyDock. An additional subscription fee is applicable.
