Import Raw Pictures From a Camera


There are several ways one can approach downloading raw images from a digital camera. The simplest and most efficient is simply connecting the camera to your computer and treating it as an external hard drive, circumventing the need for additional software.


Instructions


Download Raw Images from a Digital Camera to Your Hard Drive


1. Connect the small end of the USB cord to the digital camera. There should be a port marked "A/V out" on the side of the bottom of most models.


2. Connect the USB end of the cord to an open USB port on your computer.


3. Turn on the camera and allow from a few seconds to a minute for your computer to recognize the device.


4. After the device has been recognized, click on "My Computer" if you are using a PC. If you are using a Mac, click on your hard-drive icon.


5. Find the camera under "Devices with Removable Storage" or "Scanners and Cameras."


6. Double click on the camera icon.


7. Double click on the folder that appears.








8. Select all the pictures by clicking "ctrl+a" on a PC or "butterfly+a" on a Mac. Then, while they are all selected, click "ctrl+c" on a PC or "butterfly+c" on a Mac.


9. Open the folder to which you want to copy the pictures, and click "ctrl+v" on a PC or "butterfly+v" on a Mac.
