Connect A Camcorder To A Computer With An Rca Cable

Connect any camera to your computer with RCA cables.

Most video cameras (both digital and analog based) have a 3.5mm "Video Out" port on the side of the camera. This allows you to instantly play the video content on any television. However, it is also possible to connect the video camera to a computer through this same cable connection, as long as the computer has an RCA-based connection on its video card. If it doesn't, you need to install a video capture card on the computer.

Instructions

1. Install a video capture card onto your computer. There are externally based video capture cards that connect directly into one of the USB ports on the computer. Upload any drivers and software from provided CDs that came with the hardware.

2. Plug the 3.5mm end of the cable into the "Video Out" port of the video camera.

3. Insert the RCA audio/video ends of the cable into the "Video In" ports on the video capture card.

4. Power on the video camera and set it to "Playback" mode. The video content is now able to be viewed and recorded on the connected computer.
