Compare Digital Camera Ratings

Compare the ratings for the digital camera features that are important to you.

When selecting a new digital camera, it is wise to check out user reviews of the camera. There are many different sites where you can do this, including the website of the store where you are purchasing your camera and electronic review sites such as CNET.com. Most of these sites provide in-depth rating scales, so it is important to take into consideration past ratings when purchasing a new camera.

Instructions

1. Compare the overall ratings for several digital cameras. The overall rating is an average of the ratings for various features of a camera. This will give you an idea of whether or not users liked a camera. A score of four or more out of five means at least 80 percent of people recommend the camera.

2. Read the lowest scores for the digital cameras. Often you find the best information in these ratings. Although some are pointless (such as not liking the packaging or the color choices), many point out initial flaws that occurred with the digital camera, such as dead pixels or a malfunctioning zoom. Look for digital cameras with reviews that don't include these extremely low reviews.

3. Read the expert reviews on websites such as CNET. These reviews offer unbiased information and often point out small flaws and other information the casual user does not see.

4. Compare the reviews from different publications or websites. Look for the camera with the best reviews and the fewest low scores. This helps to ensure that you are purchasing the best product for the money.
