Reset A Tivo Series 2

Tivo systems are changing the way we watch television by allowing us to record our favorite programs for later viewing. The systems also allow us to skip commercial breaks in some cases, much to the chagrin of network advertisers. If your Tivo Series 2 is acting up, you might want to restart or reset the system to see if that fixes your problem.


Instructions


1. Turn the Tivo Series 2 on. The home screen, also known as TIVO Central, displays a menu list of items. Select "Messages and Setup" from the menu. If you have unread messages, this selection may display "Read New Messages and Setup."


2. Select "Restart or Reset System" from the "Messages and Setup" menu.


3. Select "Restart the TIVO DVR" to simply reset the system by turning it on or off. This process is almost instant. Your Tivo Series 2 should be back up and running a few minutes later.


4. Select "Clear and Delete Everything" if you wish to reset the Tivo Series 2 to its factory condition. This will delete all of your information, including your season passes, wishlist, and custom settings. The device will be restored. This type of reset takes a little over an hour to complete.
