Synchronize My Windows Mobile Phone With A Data Connection To Outlook

Windows Mobile phones contain an operating system that gives mobile users access to Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft Outlook email. If you use Microsoft Outlook on both your mobile phone and your home or work computer, you may want to synchronize the two versions of Outlook so that the information contained in Outlook Calendar or Outlook Tasks match on both systems. Microsoft offers software that allows your phone to integrate with your computer, providing a simple way to accomplish the synchronization of your windows Mobile Phone and computer Outlook.

Instructions

Syncing with Windows Vista or Newer Version

1. Download and install Windows Mobile Device Center if you have a computer running Vista or a later version of Windows. Windows Mobile Device Center can be downloaded directly from the Microsoft website (see Resources).

2. Connect your Windows Mobile phone to your computer with the data connection cable that came with your phone. Launch the Windows Mobile Device Center by going to the "Start" menu, clicking "Control Panel," switching to Classic View by clicking the "Classic View" link in the left pane, and then clicking "Windows Mobile Device Center."

3. Select "Set up your device" from the options that appear. Put a check mark next to the items that you want to synchronize between your Windows Mobile phone and Outlook, such as "Calendar," and then follow the screens through the synching process. When you reach the final screen, press the "Finish" button to synchronize the selected categories between your phone and computer.

Syncing with Windows XP or Older Version

4. Download and install the Microsoft ActiveSync to your computer if you have Windows XP or an older version of Windows. Like Windows Mobile Device Center, ActiveSync can be downloaded from the Microsoft website (see Resources).

5. Connect your Windows mobile phone to your computer with the data connection cable provided. Launch the ActiveSync application by going to "Start," "All Programs" and clicking "ActiveSync."

6. Put a check mark in the box by each Outlook category you want to sync between our phone and computer. Then, go to "Start" on your Windows Mobile Phone, choose "ActiveSync" from the menu and press the "Sync" button. Once you have pressed the "Sync" button on your Windows Mobile phone, click "Sync" in the ActiveSync program on your computer to begin syncing.
