A digital camera stores the photos you take until you delete them.
Once you've taken pictures with your digital camera, you can't do a lot with them unless you transfer them to your computer. Copying the pictures to your computer enables you to edit them and upload them to websites to share with others or to order prints of the photos. Transferring the pictures is a straightforward process. You can use either a USB cable connected to the camera and computer or a memory card reader.
Instructions
1. Connect one end of the USB cable to your digital camera and the other end to a USB port on your computer. Or eject the memory card from your camera and insert it into the memory card reader in or connected to your computer.
2. Power on your computer. Power on your digital camera if you're using the USB cable method.
3. Click "Start" and "Computer." Double-click the USB drive for your digital camera. Double-click the "DCIM" folder. You should now be able to see the pictures that were taken with your digital camera.
4. Press "Ctrl" + "A" to select all the pictures. Press "Ctrl" + "C" to copy the pictures.
5. Click "Start" and "Pictures." Click the "New Folder" tab and name the folder in which you'll save the pictures.
6. Double-click the folder you just created to open it. Press "Ctrl" + "V" to paste the pictures into the photo. Depending on the number of pictures being copied, this can take up to 15 minutes.
