Check Text Messaging On Cingular Phones

Sending text messages--or "texting"--has become almost as popular and important as talking when it comes to cell phones. Text messages are quick and perhaps even more importantly easy. One thing that's not so easy, however, is keeping track of how many texts you have used in a month. If you have an unlimited package, it's not a big deal. If you're on a limited package, however, going over your monthly number can be quite costly. But if you're an AT&T Wireless--formerly Cingular--customer, you can keep track of your texts from your phone by sending a text message to AT&T.

Instructions

1. Type "*3282#" on the keypad on your Cingular/AT&T Wireless cell phone.

2. Press the "Send" button on your keypad to send the request. The "Send" button is the button you use to make a call or send a text message. You will immediately receive a "Service Reply" message that informs you that you will soon receive a message with your text data total shortly.

3. Press the right soft key on your phone--the key in the upper right corner of your keypad, below "Exit"--to close the service reply message.

4. Open the text message from AT&T Wireless by pressing the "OK" button on your phone. The location of the "OK" button will vary slightly between phones, but it is typically located in the middle of your navigation keys, near the top of the keypad.

5. Read through your message to see how many text messages you have used and how many you have remaining. For example if you have 1,000 monthly messages and have used 800 the message will say "800 of 1,000."
