The Samsung A707 mobile phone can easily switch from 3G technology to 2G technology when necessary. 3G technology is more popular because it allows users to access the Internet with the click of a button from almost anywhere. It also gives the phone the capability to access multimedia and GPS functions. However, leaving the Samsung A707 on 3G may deplete the battery quicker and interfere with the voice signal. Disabling the 3G to automatically activate the 2G allows the user to have better reception, battery performance and sound quality.
Instructions
1. Press "277634#*#" on the phone's keypad. Scroll through the menu with the down arrow key and select option 5, labeled "Modem Setting." Scroll up and select option 2, labeled "Network Mode." Select option 1, labeled "Network Mode." Click the setting "2G Only." Turn the phone off by pressing and holding the "End Call" key on the keypad. Leave the phone off for at least one minute. Turn the phone back on by pressing and holding the "End Call" key on the keypad. If the notification at the top of the phone still reflects "3G," press the "End" key briefly to access the main screen.
2. Press "*#0523#" on the keypad. Press "Back," "Back," "Back." Press option 8, labeled "Phone Control." Choose option 4, labeled "Change State." Select option 3, labeled "GSM." Press the right soft key to confirm the settings. Turn the phone off by pressing and holding the "End Call" key. Leave the phone off for at least one minute. Turn the phone back on by pressing and holding the "End Call" key. Check to see if the phone phone still says "3G" at the top of the phone screen. If it does, contact customer service for the wireless provider.
3. Ask the wireless service provider to disable Internet on the device. The customer service representative will reconfigure the network settings to remove the Internet services. Once it is removed, turn the phone off, then back on. Attempt to access the Internet by pressing the "Media" key in the center of the phone. An error message should appear, indicating the Internet is disabled.
