Av Output Cable Failure

Audio and video cables connect a video source and TV so that the video source is seen on the TV screen. Once the cables are in place, you might experience problems with sound or video failure.

Damaged Cables

Unplug the audio and video cables from the back of the video source to reset the connection. Inspect the cables for damage, such as cuts, tears or frays. If the cables are damaged, replace them.

Video Cable

Plug the yellow video cable into the TV's yellow "Video In" jack. Plug the other end of the video cable into the video source's yellow "Video Out" jack firmly.

Audio Cables

Plug the white and red audio cables into the white and red "Audio In" jacks on the back of the TV respectively. Plug the other ends of the red and white audio cables into the "Audio Out" jacks on the back of the video source.

S-Video Cable

If the TV and audio/video sources are connected by way of an S-video cable, inspect the cable for damage. Unplug the S-video from the back of the TV and the video source to reset the connection. Align the S-video prongs with both jacks and insert both ends into the TV and video source firmly.
