Update A Samsung Ace With Windows Mobile

Developed to meet the needs of travelers who need flexible international calling capabilities, Samsung's ACE smartphone comes out of the box with Windows Mobile, complete with music, image, and Web browsing support. As with any firmware platform, Windows Mobile continually releases upgrades to improve upon previous versions. Understanding upgrade the Samsung Ace with the new version of Windows Mobile will ensure that the smartphone keeps up-to-date with Windows Mobile's most recent improvements.


Instructions


1. Plug the Samsung Ace into the computer using the USB data cable.


2. Open ActiveSync.


3. Click "Backup/Restore."


4. Select the "Backup" tab, and click "Full Backup."


5. Click "Back Up Now."


6. Unplug the device when it is finished backing up. Remove the microSD and SIM card from behind the battery panel. Plug the device back into the computer.


7. Go to the Samsung ACE support page for the Windows Mobile Update.


8. Click either of the operating system icons on the bottom right side of the page, depending on whether you are using Windows Vista or XP.


9. Click "Save File" and click "Open," activating the downloaded .exe file.


10. Click "Next" to agree to the Sprint license agreement. Click "Update" to run the new upgrade of Windows Mobile firmware. The process can take up to 20 minutes to complete. Once complete, the Windows Mobile device will be running the new firmware version.
