Replace The Rear Turn Signal On A Suzuki Boulevard

Suzuki's Boulevard series motorcycles, such as the C50 and C50T, use a sculpted chrome bracket to mount the turn signals to the rear fender. While the design enhances the look of the motorcycle, the bracket makes it difficult to remove a damaged turn signal, as there is no visible way of accessing the signal's hardware. However, removing the bracket first provides an avenue to separate the bracket's chromed shrouds to access the turn signal and wiring looms.

Instructions

1. Locate the rear turn signal bracket's nuts on the inside of the rear fender. Remove the nut with a 12 mm socket. Pull the turn signal bracket away from the rear fender.

2. Remove all four plastic pop rivets from the bottom of the bracket's plastic lower cover. Push the center of the rivet in and pull the entire rivet out of the cover. Pull the lower cover away from the turn signal bracket.

3. Look through the bottom of the turn signal bracket and locate the damaged turn signal's wiring loom. Follow the loom to the connector. Pull the connector off the motorcycle's wiring harness.

4. Reach into the bottom of the turn signal bracket and unscrew the damaged turn signal's nut with a 12 mm wrench. Pull the turn signal away from the bracket.

5. Insert the new turn signal's wiring loom into the turn signal bracket. Pull the wiring loom through the bracket and plug its connector into the motorcycle's wiring harness.

6. Press the turn signal into its mounting hole in the bracket. Screw the nut onto the turn signal's threaded mounting stud and tighten it with a 12 mm wrench.

7. Turn the motorcycle's ignition on and test the turn signal for proper operation. Check the turn signal's connector if the turn signal fails to illuminate. Reassemble the turn signal bracket and install it onto the rear fender following the reverse order of removal.
