Clean Louvered Curtains

Consisting of fabric or synthetic vertical slats, louvered curtains are a popular window treatment for patio doors or any window that opens by sliding sideways. Louvers are hung from a track mounted inside the window frame. The angle of the slats is easily adjusted with a pull of a chain while an attached cord allows you to open and close the curtain. Available in a wide assortment of colors, louvered window treatments can match any room d#xE9;cor and are easy to maintain.

Instructions

1. Dust the louvers with a clean dry cloth or a paint brush. If the louvers need a deeper cleaner, proceed to the following steps.

2. Remove the weights and chains from the bottom of each slat. Lay the chains on a flat surface to prevent tangles.

3. Release the slats from the rail and lay them out on a flat surface.

4. Clean both sides of each slat with a sponge, warm water, and mild detergent.

5. Rinse each slat with clean water and pat dry gently with a cloth.

6. Hang the slats back on the rail track and replace the weights and chains.

Tips Warnings

Clean synthetic slats with a damp cloth dipped in a cleaning liquid.

Never bend or roll slats, doing so could create a permanent crease.
