Vestax Turntable Pitch Control Problems

The Vestax Corporation manufactures and distributes electronic products for DJs. With a lineup of affordable mixers, controllers and turntables, Vestax equipment has received accolades from its peers. Pitch control problems have arisen in older turntable models but can be resolved.

Pitch Control Issues

The pitch control of a turntable handles the quick speed adjustment needed for DJs during beat-matching of two tracks. Because the pitch is so important during this type of music playing, even the slightest variance of pitch can ruin a mix. New Vestax models of turntables, such as the 2300 Mkii, contain two pitch controllers per unit. The main pitch varies from +/-10, but at zero pitch, the speed of the record tends to fluctuate greatly.

Software Pitch Control Issues

DJ software is available from a variety of manufacturers with special control vinyl, allowing information to be read digitally and broadcast through the vinyl source. When using the Vestax line of turntables in tandem with DJ mixing software, the pitch control gives erratic readings when compared to the software.

Solutions

For stand alone problems, contact Vestax directly for pitch control replacement. For software issues, consult the settings of each connection in the appropriate window. Set the latency to the absolute maximum and adjust any pitch settings to reflect the same.
