Focus A Nikon D5000

The Nikon D5000 is a digital single lens reflex camera that takes quality photos with more than 12 megapixels. The D5000 allows you to interchange the lens depending on the type of photograph you want to take. You can focus the camera manually or let the camera do the work by putting it in autofocus mode.

Instructions

1. Turn on the Nikon D5000 and look through the viewfinder to aim the camera at the subject you want to photograph.

2. Press the shutter-release button down half way to autofocus the camera. During autofocus, the camera will choose the focal point.

3. Look through the viewfinder on the bottom left of the photo for the in-focus indicator, a dot. If you see the dot appear, you can now press the shutter-release button down fully to take a picture. If the camera cannot auto focus, the in-focus indicator dot will be blinking, so you will have to manually focus the camera.

4. Look on the lens for the "A - M" or "M/A - M" switch. "A" and "M/A" mean auto-focus. To manually focus the lens, slide the switch to "M."

5. Manually focus by rotating the lens focus ring on the front of the lens. Once you have focused on the subject, you can press the shutter-release button fully down to take a picture.
