Activate A Used Prepaid Cell Phone

A prepaid cell phone can be a great way to control how much money you spend on your wireless bill every month. If you plan on starting a prepaid plan, or if you already have one, a used cell phone can also be a way to save a little cash. Activating a used prepaid cell phone is easy to do and should only take a few minutes.


Instructions


1. Go to the website, local store, or call the prepaid wireless company you would like to have the phone activated with.








2. Tell the representative you would like to open a new account, or select the option from the website or phone menu indicating you would like to start a new account.


3. Remove the battery cover from the back of your phone and look for a sticker with numbers on it. These numbers are how the phone company will be able to identify your cell phone from others.


4. Give the phone company you name and other information they request. When prompted, give them the numbers that you found under the battery compartment.


5. Load minutes on your phone using prepaid cards or using your credit card during activation.








6. Attempt to use the phone to ensure that your activation was successful. If you phone does not work try powering it off, waiting a few minutes and then powering it back on again. if it still does not work you may have made an error in the activation process and should contact your prepaid cell phone service provider.
