Pick A Home Theater Tv

As a consumer, you have a plethora of options when you go to buy a new TV. In addition to many excellent manufacturers, you can also choose between high definition, plasma, LCD and wide-screen models. If you are setting up a home theater, you will definitely want to pick a TV that takes your budget, family size, room size and audio-visual preferences into account.

Instructions

Pick a Home Theater TV

1. Decide which room in your home will be used as the theater and measure the distance from the couch to a general TV position. You can save lots of money by sticking to a television that's only the size you need. Generally, you can divide the size of the TV by four to determine how many feet apart the couch and TV should be.

2. Weigh the benefits of high-definition against the cost of these kinds of TVs. Remember that in order to take advantage of HD in a home theater situation, you'll need a high definition DVD player and/or cable provider. If you don't already have one of these players, consider the likelihood that you'll purchase one in the next year to help you choose between an HD and regular display.

3. Look at plasma TVs if you want to save space in your home theater room. These TVs also have wider picture projection and wide-screen options that make them ideal for some home theater applications.

4. Ask about glare-resistant screens if your home theater room has lots of sunlight. Ideally, your home theater room will be very dark when you're using it to watch movies. If your theater room will also double as a common room or den, you may want to get a glare-resistant television for normal TV viewing.

5. Pick a home theater TV with at least a 2-year warranty. If you get a floor model with only a 30-day warranty, you could end up paying a hefty price to fix it in a few months' time.
