The TomTom is a GPS (Global Positioning System) device that guides you to a programmed destination through the use of a moving, colored map and voice instructions. Though the unit is typically used in a car, because it contains its own battery, you can take it with your for guidance on walks in an unfamiliar town or for bike rides across the city. Eventually, however, the battery will require recharging through one of three main methods.
Instructions
1. Connect the included car charger to the USB port on your TomTom and to the power outlet (cigarette lighter) of your car. This is the default method and charges your unit as you navigate while driving. (Reference 1)
2. Connect the included USB cable to the USB port on your TomTom and to the USB port on your home computer. Turn on your computer to begin charging. This is the slowest method but allows charging as you manage maps, addresses, voices and downloads through your system.
3. Buy the separate Fast Charger, which works on some models and charges your unit in as little as two hours. Insert your TomTom into the cradle and then plug the charger into a wall outlet. The plug includes adaptors for world use and will automatically switch voltages to work on foreign currents.
