Cablevision customers who want to add an HD Tivo will need to rent a CableCard instead of an HD cable box. The CableCard will decode the cable signal, but instead of being a separate device like the cable box, it is inserted into the HD Tivo. Also, the HD Tivo can handle recording two programs at the same time, but be aware that you'll need a CableCard designed for multiple signal streams, called an M CableCard.
Instructions
1. Connect the coaxial cable from the wall to the "Cable" jack on the back of the HD Tivo.
2. Connect the HDMI cable from the HDMI port on the back of the HD Tivo to an HDMI input on your HDTV.
3. Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports on your router to the LAN port on the back of the HD Tivo or connect the wireless adapter to the USB port on the back of the HD Tivo.
4. Plug in your HD Tivo and turn on your TV. Tune the TV to the correct input.
5. Complete the guided setup. The guided setup is mostly automated, however, when prompted select the resolutions that your TV supports as well as any questions about what station is being shown on a specific channel. Also, you will need to set up the network settings. If you are using a wired connection, select to use DHCP and continue. If you are using a wireless connection, select the wireless network name (SSID), then enter the wireless key.
6. Insert the M CableCard into the CableCard slot on the back of the Tivo once the guided setup is completed. Call the number that appears on the screen to activate the CableCard.
