Requirements for Opening a BPI Credit Card


Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) is the oldest bank in the Philippines. The bank offers different kinds of credit cards to meet the various needs of their customers. BPI credit cards offer convenience when shopping, dining and traveling. Some credit cards offer low finance charges, free travel insurance, emergency car assistance, gas rebates, mileage programs, rewards system and other privileges.


Age, Income Other Requirements


To apply for a BPI credit card, applicants must be at least 21 years old and co-applicants must be at least 13 years old. As of 2010, applicants must have a minimum monthly income of 20,000 Philippine pesos for BPI Express Credit Classic, BPI Blue MasterCard, BPI WorldPerks MasterCard, Petron-BPI MasterCard, BPI Edge MasterCard and 50,000 Philippine pesos for BPI Gold MasterCard. Applicants must have a business or residence land-line number and completely fill out an application form online. Applicants with existing BPI credit card of at least one year do not have to submit any supporting documents. All other applicants must submit supporting documents and fax them to the international number 011-632-845-5738, Routing Code 20022. Bank of the Philippine Islands must receive all supporting documents within three banking days in order to process the application.


Supporting Documents


A proof of identification showing the front and back of a photo ID is required. Among other acceptable proof of identification are the following: passport, driver's license, Philippine Regulatory Commission ID, National Bureau of Investigation, Police Clearance, Postal ID, Voter's ID. Applicants must submit proof of verifiable income. The two most recent pay stubs, income tax return or audited financial statement with a Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) or bank stamp are acceptable proof of income. Overseas Filipino Workers are required to submit a certificate or contract of employment. Non-Filipino resident applicants must submit Alien Certificate of Registration, work permit or Embassy Accreditation Papers.


BPI Credit Cards


BPI Express Credit Classic Card offers a low finance charge and is accepted by over 20,000 merchants in the Philippines. BPI Express Credit Blue Card is an international credit card that allows cardholders to withdraw up to 30 percent of their credit limit. The BPI Express Gold is an international credit card that offers cash advance of up to 100 percent of cardholders' credit limit, car emergencies assistance, and other special perks. BPI Express Credit Petron Mastercard offers 3 percent fuel rebate and free travel insurance. BPI Express Credit Card WorldPerks offers a comprehensive mileage program. BPI Express Credit Corporate Card is a company guaranteed credit card for employees to use for business-related expenses such as travel, supplies and meals.
