Grants For Smartboards For Educators

Grants for Smartboards

Smartboards are the latest rage in classroom innovation. The technology fascinates teachers and their students through its ability to engage high interaction and interest on any subject area. As Smartboards are still considered to be cutting-edge, funding for them works nicely into any grant that supports technology in the classroom.

Adopt-A-Classroom Grants

Adopt-A-Classroom funds do just that: They adopt classrooms to support teachers and students in their use of technology. Once a teacher registers the classroom on the Adopt-A-Classroom website, $500 in credit is given with which to purchase technology. The teacher then sends out solicitations to the business community using information provided by Adopt-A-Classroom to adopt their classroom through donations.

Those businesses that sign on receive regular updates about the classroom they adopt, the materials purchased, and how they were used. The Adopt-A-Classroom website contains all the information needed to register, make business contacts, send regular updates through email and use pre-written letter templates to get started.

CitiGroup Foundation Grants

Through its commitment to economic empowerment, the Citigroup Foundation commits a significant part of its company-wide contributions to education through Citigroup Smarter Schools and Smarter Classrooms Grants. The Citi mission focuses on supporting the educational growth in high-needs neighborhoods through programs that help them create smarter schools and smarter classrooms. Grants support the purchases of innovative classroom technologies and school-to-work programs that use them.

The Academy for Educational Development received more than $1 million from Citigroup to fund the Citi Postsecondary Success Program. The Action Center for College Educational Services and Scholarship Foundation received $23,000 to fund a high school advising program. The Citigroup Foundation prefers to be contacted via its website for application information.

Hewlett-Packard Technology for Teaching

HP has funded hundreds of schools since 2004 through the HP Technology for Teaching Grant Initiative. Since 1940, its first year of charitable giving, HP has donated more than 1 billion in cash and products to schools, nonprofits and to higher education. Former grant recipients include the Aliceville High School in Aliceville, Alabama; the Deer Canyon Elementary School in San Diego California; and the Marble Hill School for International Studies in the Bronx, New York City.

Funding is provided to K-12 schools, nonprofit agencies and institutions of higher education every year for purchases that include Smartboards for innovative use of technology in teaching and education. Preference is given to communities where HP employees live and work to help further economic prosperity and build a diverse and highly skilled workforce.
