Make Your Own Flash Doll

Flash dolls can be made by using Adobe Flash.

Flash is one of the most frequently used formats for web animation. Making flash dolls is enjoyable for anyone who likes to play dress-up and useful for people who have a doll shop. You could also use flash dolls on your website. They can serve as compelling and helpful avatars useful for service-oriented websites. The benefit of making a flash doll yourself rather than hiring someone to do it is that you'll save money and can more easily play around with ways you can customize the doll to suit your liking. You'll need Adobe Flash on your computer to complete the job.

Instructions

1. Open up Adobe Flash on your computer.

2. Click on "ActionScript 3.0" and select the "Create New" section.

3. Click "New Layer" at the bottom left corner of the timeline. Keep clicking "New Layer" until there are as many layers as you need for body components on your doll. For example you'll need seven layers to have four limbs, a neck, head, and trunk.

4. Name each layer by body part (for example, "head") by double-clicking on it.

5. Select your "trunk" layer and modify the foreground color to the color you would like your doll's torso to be.

6. Turn on the "Pen" tool and on the canvas, rough out the shape of your doll's torso.

7. Select another layer. Pick its color and draw the body part.

8. Continue until you've created all the parts for all the layers.

9. Press down the "Shift" key and at the timeline select the single frame of each timeline layer. Right-click on the top one and choose "Copy Frames."

10. Click on "Modify" on the menu. Select "Convert to Symbol." A dialogue box will appear. Click "Graphic" as the type. Type in "body" for the symbol's name. Then double-click on the symbol.

11. On the first frame of the single layer, right-click and select "Paste Frames" on the menu that appears.

12. Select the "Bone" tool and use it to join all the different body parts. As an example, you can drag a bone from the wrist to the elbow, and they'll connect.

13. Save the doll you've created.
