Pro Vs Pro Duo

Memory Stick Pro and Pro Duo are used in some digital camcorders.

Memory Stick flash media cards come in Pro and Pro Duo variants. Both the Pro and Pro Duo cards offer fast transfer speeds, but they differ in physical size and memory capacity.

Memory Stick

Memory Stick is a type of removable flash media used in digital cameras, digital music players, PDAs and other electronics. Memory Sticks first became available in 1998.

Memory Stick Pro

Memory Stick Pro is a type of Memory Stick memory card with increased capacity and transfer speed. Original Memory Sticks were limited to 128 MB. Memory Stick Pro has a theoretical limit of 32 GB, although the highest capacity released to the market is 4 GB.

Memory Stick Pro Duo

The main difference between Memory Stick Pro Duo and Memory Stick Pro is size. The Pro Duo line of products was designed for newer, pocket-size digital cameras. According to "Digital Design and Fabrication," the Pro Duo is only 33.7% the size of a Memory Stick Pro. The Pro Duo has the same high-speed transfer capability as the Pro, yet comes in larger capacities...up to 8 GB.
