The Samsung VP-DC161 is a DVD camcoder produced by Samsung, a South Korean conglomerate. The device entered production in 2007. The camcoder uses the MPEG-2 picture compression format. Users can record video in either of the three recording qualities: XP (about 9 Mbps), SP (about 6 Mbps), LP (about 3 Mbps). The device is also capable of taking still images and saving them in the JPEG format.

DIS and BLC
The Samsung VP-DC161 features Digital Image Stabilizer and Back Light Compensation. The DIS feature reduces unstable images as a result of handshake, particularly those taken at high magnification. The BLC function allows you to record video and take still images even with a dark background.
Still Images
The Photo Capture function allows users to take still images while the disc is in play. You can save the images on the memory card, which you can later copy onto your computer via the provided USB cable. You can insert the memory card in the multi-memory card slot.
