Tips For The Samsung Epic 4g

The Samsung Epic 4G smartphone is serviced through Sprint's wireless network.

The Samsung Epic 4G is the second 4G smartphone created by Sprint. The phone runs Android's 2.1 operating system. The multimedia device features a 4-inch super AMOLED--Active-matrix organic light-emitting diode--touch screen display, full QWERTY keyboard and a 5-megapixel camera. AMOLED screens do not have a backlight, and colors are displayed much brighter and richer than ordinary screens. There are many things that you can do with the Samsung Epic 4G phone.

Music

You can listen to your favorite music tracks on the Samsung Epic's built-in music player. Using your phone's UBS cord, connect your phone to your computer and upload hundreds of songs onto your phone. Download songs on the phone by purchasing a music application from the Android market. The Epic also supports live FM radio playback. To get this feature, download the free application "iHeart Radio" from the Android market. "iHeart Radio" features stations from many major cities in the U.S.

Messaging

Messaging on the Samsung Epic 4G is simple since it has a full QWERTY keyboard. Easily send texts, emails and picture messages on the phone. The Samsung Epic comes preloaded with two email applications. Use the "Gmail" application to send and receive messages to your Google mail account. The application "Mail" allows you to send and receive messages from AOL, Yahoo or even work accounts such as Outlook Exchange.

The "Handcent SMS," a text and picture messaging application, allows you to customize text messages. You can customize the background of texts for individual contacts. "Handcent" allows you to send pictures and other files such as music and files on your SD card.

Shortcuts

Instead of browsing through your list of applications to get to your most commonly used programs, you can place widgets on your home screen to get to certain programs quicker. Widgets are small applications that act as shortcuts. The Epic has both Samsung created widgets and Android widgets. Samsung widgets include the "Buddies" application and the "Accuweather clock." The Android widgets include "Facebook,""Sprint TV" and "Voicemail."

To apply a widget to your home screen, press and hold down the application from the applications list. Hold down the application for about two seconds and it will create a shortcut on the home screen.

Memory

The Epic 4G features 512 megabytes of internal memory. Clearing your Internet browsing history often ensures that your phone is running as quickly as possible. Clearing the cache and cookies off the browser also helps with phone speed. To do this, go to your browser's settings option and clear the information.

Another way to keep your phone running smoothly is to download pictures and applications directly to the SD card. The Epic 4G supports up to 32 gigabytes of external memory.
