Tomtom Go 910 Instructions

The TomTom Go is an easy-to-use Global Positioning System (GPS) device. The touchscreen is your main interface with the device. When the device first powers up, which may take 20 seconds, you will answer a few on-screen questions. The device will then locate your current position. Make sure you are outside when you perform the setup. The device can take up to 5 minutes to find you.

Planning a Trip

Simply tap the screen; this will bring up the menu. Tap the first icon, marked "Navigate to...." A second screen will appear. Tap the third icon over from the left marked "Address." The third screen that comes up will give the options of setting the destination as either a city center; a street and house number; a ZIP or postal code; or a crossing/intersection.

Entering an Address

For the purposes of this brief tutorial, we will use the street and house number option. Tap on the street/house number icon and start typing the name of the city. As you type, possible matches are displayed. When you see your match, tap it. The same procedure comes into play for the street name. Tap the name of the street. Finally, enter the house number and tap "Done."

Route

The device will start to calculate the route. When it has told you that it has calculated the route, tap "Done." The TomTom will then guide you to the destination, both audibly and visually.

Other Navigation Options

The TomTom can navigate to your pre-set home location if you have one programmed in. In the Main Menu, select "Preferences" and the "Change Home Location." Other navigation options include setting a Favorite in Preferences and navigating to it. Bring up a list of places you have recently used as destinations by tapping "Recent Destinations." Navigate to points of interest, like points on a map.

The Driving View

Once the TomTom 910 has calculated its route, the screen will change to "Driving View." The screen will show a three-dimensional representation of the view from the windscreen as a map. The blue arrow indicates your current position. The name of the next major road will appear in the top right corner. The next instruction will appear in the bottom left. The name of the next street to turn onto will be in the bottom center. The zoom button is in the top right.
