Wire A 148 Gtl Tuner

The Cobra 148 GTL is a 40-channel AM, 80-channel SSB (Single Side-Band) CB tuner for your vehicle. The 148 GTL is designed to mount in or under your dashboard and includes a microphone with a 9-foot cord for easy access. Once you have mounted the 148 GTL, the next step is to wire the tuner to your vehicle. You will need to wire the tuner to your CB antenna and to your vehicle's electrical system.

Instructions

1. Attach the end of the antenna cable to the antenna input on the 148 GTL by inserting the plug on the end of the cable into the input and twisting the plug clockwise until it is secure.

2. Locate the +13.8-volt power wire coming from your ignition. Consult your vehicle's owner guide if you are having trouble locating the wire. It can usually be found by following the power wire from your car stereo deck to the +13.8-volt power wire.

3. Connect the red wire coming off the 148 GTL to the +13.8 volt ignition wire. To do this, first strip off a small section of the jacket on the +13.8 volt ignition wire. Next, wrap the bare wire at the end of the red wire coming from the CB tuner around the bare portion of the +13.8 volt ignition wire. Then wrap electrical tape around the two wires to hold them together.

4. Connect the black wire coming off the CB tuner to a clean piece of metal on the vehicle's chassis. The easiest way to do this is to remove a nearby bolt on the chassis, clean away any dirt or paint, wrap the bare wire under the bolt head, then replace and tighten the bolt to trap the wire in place. This is the ground wire.
