Tmobile Wing Troubleshooting Information

The T-Mobile Wing is a smart phone released in 2007. The Wing features the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system, support for multiple messaging applications, a two-megapixel camera and media player. Though the phone will work without problems under most conditions, the Wing may occasionally not operate as intended. You can fix many common problems by troubleshooting the phone.

Low Memory

The Wing supports several forms messaging and applications, which can be stored in the phone's memory. Over time, the memory in the phone is used up, meaning you cannot save anything else. The lack of memory may also have an adverse affect on how currently installed applications run. You can free up memory on your Wing by deleting extraneous applications and large files.

To delete files from your device, tap "Start" and choose "Programs" and "File Explorer." A list of your files will appear on the screen. Delete a file by tapping and holding the file and tapping "Delete."

If you want to search for the largest files on your Wing, tap "Start" and choose "Programs" and "File Explorer." Tap the "Type" list and choose "Larger Than 64 KB." Tap "Search" to bring up a list of larger files on your phone. Tap and hold a file and tap "Delete" to remove it from your phone.

Short Battery Life

The amount of time your battery lasts in the Wing is determined by the features you use and the length of time you use them. You can extend the battery life by changing some of the settings on your device. First, tap the battery icon on the display screen and choose the "Advanced" tab. In this tab you can adjust when the display turns off after a period of inactivity. Choose three minutes or a shorter amount of time to maximize power conservation.

There are several functions that use a large amount of battery power, such as the Wi-Fi network, Bluetooth functions and the camera. Turn off these features when you are not using them to conserve battery power.

Reset

When the Wing is running slower than normal or if programs are malfunctioning, reset the device to clear any errors and return it to normal working order. The Wing supports soft resets, which is similar to rebooting your computer, or hard resets, which clears all of the information on your device and returns it to its default settings. The hard reset should only be performed if a soft reset does not fix the Wing.

To perform a soft reset, press the "Reset" button in the small hole on the left side of the device with the stylus. The machine will restart and any errors should be cleared from the Wing.

To perform a hard reset, press and hold the left and right soft keys while pressing the "Reset" button on the left side of the device with the stylus. Release the "Reset" button but continue to hold the soft keys until the warning message appears on the screen. Once it appears, let go of the soft keys and press the "Send" button to complete the reset.
