Nikon Coolpix 3100 Battery Problems

The CoolPix 3100 is powered by 2 AA-sized batteries.

Battery problems on the Nikon CoolPix 3100 can be easily fixed by checking a few details on the batteries. If these simple steps do not fix your problem, your camera may have internal problems and require a repair service.

Incorrect Orientation & Cover

The batteries may be placed in the incorrect orientation inside the battery cover. Insert the batteries as shown on the label inside the battery cover. One must be facing up while the other faces downward. In addition, make sure the battery latch is securely closed when finished.

Charge and Contact

The camera will not function if the batteries are exhausted, and certain camera functions will not work if the batteries have a low charge. Insert fully charged batteries, or recharge your current battery by plugging it into an outlet using an AC adapter. Also, clean the terminals on the batteries and camera with a soft piece of cotton if they have dust or other debris. Poor contact can reduce the voltage of a charged battery.

Temperature

The batteries may be too cold to provide adequate charge. Remove the batteries and warm them using your hands to at least 68 degrees Fahrenheit, which is the preferable operating temperature for this camera.
