Improve Reception With A Simple Radio Antenna

To improve the reception of FM stations on your radio, add a simple antenna to focus the radio signals. All that is needed are a few items from an electronics shop and some tools commonly found around the house.

Instructions

1. Cut a 2-foot slit through the insulation at one end of the speaker cable with the utility knife. Separate the two wires at the end of the speaker cable by pulling them apart with your fingers.

2. Cut a 4-inch slit with the utility knife through the insulation at the other end of the speaker cable. Separate the two wires at this end of the speaker cable by pulling them apart with your fingers.

3. Strip an inch of insulation off the two wires with the wire strippers. Twist the exposed ends of the two wires around each other.

4. Press in on the tab beneath the "Aux" or "Ant" hole on the back of the radio. Insert the twisted end of the two wires into the hole. Release the tab.

5. Trail the free ends of the speaker cable down from the radio and alongside the wall behind it.
