The Sidekick LX, like most cellular devices, can be personalized with different songs and ringtones. Like most other providers, however, the ringtones must be bought for $2 to $3 each, and many owners are unwilling to pay this amount for a ringtone. To bypass this fee, ringtones can be created from songs on your computer and sent to your Sidekick electronically.
Instructions
1. Open your computer's media player and click the song you would like to use as a ringtone. Right-click your selected song and click "Get Info" on the pop-up menu. Click "Options."
2. Adjust the starting and ending time to a song clip you would like to use that is less than 30 seconds, as this is the length allowed by Sidekicks as ringtones.
3. Open your email program and find your new song clip in your computer's music library to add as an attachment to a new email.
4. Send the email to your Sidekick's email address, which will look like this with your cellular number: "5551234567@tmomail.net." Once the email reaches your phone, open the message and download the attached song to assign it as a ringtone on your Sidekick.
