Format An Xd Card On A Camera

If you have a digital camera that uses an XD card, there may come a time when you need to format it. If you get an error message when you put your XD card into your computer or into your camera, such as the standard "Card Not Initialized" message, then you need to format your XD card on your camera. The "Format" option is somewhat hidden in the camera menus.

Instructions

1. Power on your camera. You will need to put your camera into the "Playback" mode and not the "Photography" mode.

2. Find the "Menu" or "OK" button on your camera. Once you find it, press it one time to get a menu up on the screen of your camera.

3. Use your arrow buttons on your camera to scroll through the menus on your screen until you see an "Options" menu. When you see it, click the "OK" button.

4. Find and select a "Setup" option.

5. Initiate the formatting. On most XD-compatible cameras, "Format" is the very first option. If it is not first for you, browse through until you find it. Once you have selected the "Format" option, press the "OK" button. Your screen will tell you that it is now formatting the XD card on the camera. Wait while it formats. When you get a message that it is done, you can power off the camera.
