Fix A Nikon Coolpix L10

Hold the "Shutter Release" button down halfway to autofocus.

The Nikon Coolpix L10 digital camera is a small compact device designed to capture high-quality images. After using your new camera a few times, you may experience problems with power loss and blurriness. Navigating a few steps and conducting self-maintenance will have your camera operating like new again in little time. You can replace old batteries with new ones, adjust the monitor backlight to better see it and prevent your images from coming out blurry.

Instructions

1. Install new batteries into the Coolpix if your camera is experiencing power loss problems. Turn the camera upside down, so that the bottom is toward you and the battery chamber is easily accessible. Slide the battery cover latch over to the left to unlock the cover and pull the cover back. Remove the old batteries and dispose of them properly. Insert new batteries, being careful to mind the polarity indicators that are printed on the inside of the battery chamber. Close the battery chamber cover by lowering it and sliding it back toward you until it snaps into place. Turn on your camera to confirm that it's receiving power.

2. Adjust your monitor backlight if your monitor is too dark for you to see. Push the "Menu" button on the back of your camera (located to the right of the monitor). You will see the following options: "Menus," "Date," "Monitor Settings," "Date Imprint," "Sound Settings" and "Blur Warning." Use the four-way navigation button (located on the back of the camera to the right of the monitor) to highlight "Monitor Settings," and push "OK" (located within the four-way navigation button) to select it. From the "Monitor Settings," use the four-way navigation button to highlight "Brightness," and push "OK" to select it. Choose from five backlighting levels: "1" is the lowest, "3" is the middle and "5" is the brightest.

3. Rectify blurry pictures by cleaning your lens and practicing proper camera-holding techniques. Do not touch the lens glass with your fingers, as this will produce further smudging. If you're removing dust, use a blowing device. Clean smears and grime from your lens with a special lens cleaning cloth. Hold the camera with both hands when shooting. Keep your camera steady and still by bracing your elbows tightly against your side. A shaky camera will produce non-sharp images. Remain very still as you gradually apply pressure to the "Shutter Release" button (located on the top of the camera to the right) to take the picture (especially in low-lighting situations where a flash isn't being used).
