Remove The Radio From A 2000 Grand Marquis

If you want to upgrade the radio in your 2000 Mercury Marquis, the first thing you'll need to do is to remove the old radio. If you haven't removed a car radio before, you might find this to be a somewhat intimidating task. And while it can be a complicated project with some cars, the Marquis is one of the easiest cars around in this regard.

Instructions

1. Set the parking brake on your car and remove any media (tapes, CDs) you may have in the current car radio. Turn the ignition off.

2. Open the hood of the car and disconnect the car's negative battery cable, using a small adjustable wrench. The negative cable is the black cable.

3. Insert a pair of DIN tools in the two holes on either side of the face of the radio. You can purchase DIN tools at any car audio or car parts store. They look like a pair of U-shaped wires. Push the DIN tools in until you hear a click from each side of the radio.

4. Spread the tools apart slightly and pull the radio out, applying a steady force.

5. When the radio is clear of the dash opening, unplug the antenna cable and the wiring harness plug attached to the back of the radio.
