Instructions On Build An Art Light Box

Photographers use light boxes to illuminate and take photos of small objects. These may also be called a white box or light tent. A simple light box can be constructed from material such as MDF or medium density fiberboard. This material is made from compressed wood dust and is found at most stores that sell craft supplies. However, you will need to determine how big to construct the light box, such as 20 inches by 20 inches.

Instructions

1. Measure a section of MDF that is 20 inches by 20 inches with the tape measure. Make cut marks with the pencil. Cut the MDF to the required size with the table saw.

2. Measure a section of MDF that measures 5 inches by 20 inches. Make cut marks with the pencil. Cut the MDF to the required size with the table saw. Repeat this step to cut three additional pieces.

3. Apply a bead of wood glue to the top and bottom edges of the 5-inch-by-20-inch sections. Position the pieces together to form a square. Secure the sections by using finish nails with the nail gun.

4. Apply a bead of wood glue to the edge of the perimeter of the square. Set one of the 20-inch-by-20-inch pieces of MDF on top. Secure the piece of MDF with finish nails with the nail gun.

5. Set the MDF box upright. Measure the top inward 5 inches from one side and make a mark with the pencil. Measure and mark the opposite side 5 inches in.

6. Remove the wax paper from the adhesive on the puck lights. Press the puck lights to the underside of the top of the box, to adhere the adhesive.

7. Place an object inside the box and then press the "Power" button to turn on the puck lights.
