Kodak M580 Specs

The Easyshare M580 is a handheld point-and-shoot camera from Kodak. The M580 has 14.5 megapixels and image stabilization. The M580's compact design allows the camera to fit easily in pockets, making it an ideal camera for casual amateur photography. The M580 camera body is available in blue, purple, and pink.


Standard Features


The Kodak Easyshare has a 1/2.3 inch CCD sensor and 14.5 megapixels. The optical zoom of the M580 is 8 times while the digital zoom is 5 times. The lens of the camera has built-in image stabilization as well as a mechanical lens cover. The shutter speed ranges from eight seconds to 1/1400th of a second. There is a three inch LCD on the M580 but no viewfinder. The camera comes with 64 MB of internal memory, but also has an SD card slot.


Focus


The M580 has through-the-lens selectable autofocus. Focus ranges for the lens vary according to the focus mode. In normal mode, wide angle shots have a minimal focal distance of two feet. Telephoto shots have a minimum focal distance of 6.6 feet. In macro mode, the wide and telephoto focal distances are 27.6 inches and 6.9 feet, respectively. Focus control modes on the Kodak M580 include continuous and single AF. Specialized autofocus features include face priority, multi-zone, and center zone.


Exposure Control








ISO on the M580 can be set automatically by the camera or toggled by users between the range of 80 and 1600. Exposure compensation can be adjusted within two EV by one-third stops. The M580 includes auto, daylight, tungsten, fluorescent and open shade white balance levels.


Flash


The M580 comes with a built-in flash that has a range of 1.9 to 9.8 feet at a wide angle and 2.2 to 5.6 feet in a telephoto shot. The flash includes auto, fill and red-eye reduction modes.


Picture Options


A self-timer is included on the M580 with two and 10 second timer options. The M580 uses only program mode with face detection for pictures. Within program mode there are 21 scene settings including portrait, landscape, candlelight, sunset, and panorama setting.


Resolution and Style


The M580 shoots JPEG and EXIF files. This includes the pixel resolution options of 4288 by 3216, 4288 by 2848, 4288 by 2416, 2880 by 2160, 2048 by 1536, 1920 by 1088 and 1280 by 960. Color mode includes high, natural, low, sepia and black and white. Sharpness settings on the M580 include sharp, normal and soft.








Video Mode


The M580 records quicktime files in the h.264 codec, with resolution options of 1280 by 720 or 640 by 480 at 30 frames per second. Video mode uses only single auto-focus mode and digital zoom during recording. The M580's recording length depends on SD card capacity but will not exceed 4 GB.


Power and Dimensions


The M580 is powered with a Kodak rechargeable lithium-ion battery (model KLIC-7006). The camera is 4 inches wide, 2.3 inches high, and 1 inch deep. The M580 weighs 150 grams.
