Copy Outlook Express From One Computer To Another

Copy Outlook Express From One Computer to Another

Outlook Express is a computer program that allows you to send and receive emails. You have an email address and anyone with an email client can send you a message. Although there are newer email clients out that are replacing Outlook Express, many people still use the program. If you are one of these users, you may have the need to copy Outlook Express from one computer to another. This can be accomplished by following these simple steps.

Instructions

1. Open Outlook Express and locate your email folder. Do this by clicking the "Tools" button, then "Options". The "Options" window will open.

2. Select the "Maintenance" tab within the "Options" window. In the "Maintenance" tab, click the button that reads "Store Folder"; this will show you the location of the folder with your email information.

3. Manually locate your "Store Folder" and copy it onto a flash drive. Then, access Outlook Express and open your Address Book. Within the "Address Book" window, click the "File" button; the "File" menu will drop down. From the "File" menu, click on the "Export" option. Next, click "Address Book."

4. Select and name a file into which you want to copy your Address Book. After this, access that file and copy it onto a flash drive.

5. Connect your flash drive to the new computer. Open the Outlook Express program and click on the "File" button on the toolbar. Click the "Import" option and then click "Messages."

6. Click the "Microsoft Outlook Express" option and then click the "Next" button. Click the option to import mail from an "OE6 Directory" and then click the "Next" button again.

7. Select the "Store Folder" that you copied from your previous computer as the folder you want to import information from and then click the "Import" button.

8. Repeat the same process for the "Address Book" folder, except this time choose "Address Book" from the "Import" options instead of the "Messages" option.
