Wire A Sony Amp To 12volt Power

If you're adding a Sony car amplifier to your system, one of the essential steps is to connect the amplifier to its 12-volt power source. It's easy with a few simple steps.

Instructions

1. Find the power connection on your Sony amp. On Sony amps, the power connection will be marked "+12V," and will be a brass set screw connection. With your screwdriver, loosen the screw so there's about 1/8 inch of clearance between the screw and the base where it tightens down.

2. Strip back the insulation of your power cable so there is 1/2 inch of bare wire. Use your wire strippers to do this, and be careful not to cut into the bare wire. This can weaken it and may cause it to break later. Slip a spade connector over the wire and crimp it until it is securely fastened to the wire. Tug on the spade connector a few times to be sure it's solidly connected to the power cable.

3. Slide the forked end of the spade connector under the loosened set screw connection. With your screwdriver, tighten down the set screw until it holds the spade connector and the wire securely in place. Give the wire a gentle tug to be sure it's securely fastened to the amp's power terminal.
