Troubleshoot A Kodak Sd Card

Connect an SD card reader to the computer with a USB cable, and insert the card.

Kodak SD (Secure Digital) cards are made by Lexar and branded Kodak. SD cards have a capacity of 2GB or less. SD cards are distinct from SDHC cards, which, although they look the same, have a larger capacity. Kodak SD cards can be used in any device a non-Kodak branded SD card can be used in, despite the inference, due to the branding, that they are only for cameras. Troubleshooting the cards can be accomplished by following some steps.

Instructions

1. Download images or other data onto a computer if you can't fit any more data on the Kodak SD card. Connect an SD card reader to the computer with a USB cable, and insert the card. The card will mount and you will be able to use the onscreen dialog boxes to archive data. Simply follow the instructions to "Copy from the card" or similar. Once the card is empty, you will be able to add more data.

2. Unlock the card if you have a problem adding data. The cards have physical locks. Look at the side of the card to see a small plastic slider. Move the switch with your fingernail to lock or unlock the card.

3. Reformat the card if you still can't write to it. The cards can become corrupted with heavy use. Format the card in the device you plan to use the card in for best results. Look through the device's menu or setup options until you find a menu item called "Format." Select the format option, but be aware that this will delete all the data on the card, so do it only if you're sure you've archived your data. If the Kodak SD card won't read or write at all, you may have no choice but to delete your data through formatting in order to recover the card's functionality.
