Turn A Tv Into A Projector

Instead of throwing away the broken television set or the out of date computer monitor consider instead creating a television projector. By following the guidelines below anybody can make a projector, good for movies and slides. The instructions below on turn a TV into a projector are based on a 14" television monitor.

Instructions

1. Use a ruler to measure the size of your television screen. Be sure to measure both vertically and horizontally and make a note of the measurements. The measurements should not include the box or the frame surrounding the glass screen.

2. Cut from stiff cardboard four rectangular pieces that will act as the walls of the projector. Two pieces should be the width of your television on two sides and 18 inches on the other two sides. The other two pieces should be the lengthy of your television on two sides and 18 inches on the other two sides.

3. Create another piece of card that is exactly the same size as your screen and cut a 2.5 inch diameter circle in the center. It is a good idea to use a compass for this part. To cut the inner circle, make a small hole in the center of the circle first and work your way to the outside with sharp scissors.

4. Paint all five pieces of cardboard with black acrylic paint and a paintbrush and allow to dry. The projector works best when no light can infiltrate the screen unnecessarily. Painting the cardboard black helps ensure this.

5. Attach with study adhesive tape such as duct tape a fresnel or magnifying lens securely across the circle of the screen sized card. Apply tape to the corners to avoid covering the center circle. Buy these lenses online or at any good craft supply store.

6. Tape the four rectangular pieces of card together at the seams using strong adhesive tape to correspond with the sides of the television set. This means to place the card besides each other and tape into place until you create a flat sided tube. You should be able to fold the card at the seams after taping.

7. Stick the cardboard frame to the television screen front using more tape before placing the center card inside the tube. It is a good idea to create duct tape flaps for the sides of the projector lens so that you can adjust the lens once it is inside the box. Be sure to eliminate any sources of light that could diffract from the center circle.
