Take Action Baseball Photos Without A Blurry Ball Or Bat

Taking professional looking action shots of baseball can be challenging and requires split second timing.

Many sports fans will tell you that baseball is a slow-moving game, but when the action happens, there is a flurry of motion and action that occurs within seconds. This can make taking action photos difficult and frustrating. Getting the ball and bat in focus is challenging, but with the right equipment, the right technique and practice you can get that perfect baseball action shot.

Instructions

1. Move as close to the action as you can. You will may need a telephoto lens of at least 200 mm if you are photographing in a larger baseball stadium.

2. Adjust the shutter speed on your camera to the highest settings. If you have a digital camera, adjust the ISO to its highest setting.

3. Aim the camera at the area where the action is going to take place and bring the camera lens into focus.

4. Release the shutter once the ball and bat are in the frame. You will need to anticipate the moment you want to capture and press the shutter release button just before that in order to account for shutter delay.
