Garmin 60c Sx Instructions

The Garmin 60C Sx may be a hiker's best friend. It is a hand-held GPS device, roughly the size of a large cell phone. A Global Positioning System device can locate you on a map and navigate you to your destination. Although it doesn't have as many features as the larger car models, the Garmin 60C Sx will still be able to get you from point A to point B.

Locating Yourself on the Map

Press the "Mark" button. This can be found on the bottom left corner of the device. Your location will initially be display and a marker representing your location will be placed on the GPS map. If you want to keep this location and save it, use the "Rocker" key to select "OK." The "Rocker" key is the directional arrow button, which is found in the center of the device. The Rocker's key functions are very similar to that of a computer mouse.

Create an End Location

Now that you have point A marked out on your map, it is time to create point B. Press the "Find" button on the Garmin 60C Sx device. Use the Rocker button to scroll through the waypoints (points of interest), cities and other locations options. Each option will bring up a larger list of locations, each relating to the title group (such as town names will be under the title group "City" while restaurants may be found in the "Waypoint" points of interest section). Select the desired search you would like to use and press "Enter." From here, the full list of what you selected (Waypoints, or cities or other locations) will be brought up. Select the location, which you would like directions to and press the "Go To" button. The Garmin 60CSx will take a moment to process the information, and in a short time a route from your set location to the desired location will be created. The navigation will now begin.

Getting to Your Location

Follow the navigation and you should arrive at the desired location. There will not be a loud voice telling you each direction you should go or where you should turn (as there is in the Garmin car GPS systems). It will be up to you to follow the map. Of course you will have your own icon and your progress will be shown in real time on the map, so you will be able to see where you turn and what direction you will need to go next.
