Record Digital Tv To A Dvd

Record Digital TV to a DVD

Digital television broadcasts can be saved on DVDs. You can connect the digital television transmission source to a video capture card, and a program on your computer allows you to record the video transmission to your computer's hard drive. Then you can use a DVD burning program to save the digital video file to a blank DVD. If you receive digital television broadcasts using a set top digital television receiver, you can connect this to the video capture card. If you receive digital transmissions directly, connect the antenna cable directly to your capture card.

Instructions

1. Connect the antenna to the antenna input connector on the video capture card fitted in your computer. If you are using a set top digital receiver, connect a cable to the receiver's output connector, then connect that cable to the capture card.

2. Install the television capture program that came with your capture card, on your computer, if you have not already done so. Follow the installation instructions that came with the program.

3. Start the digital television capture program. The program interface will show the television signals received through the capture card. Some capture cards have several types of input connection, so you may have to select the input connector that your source cable is connected to, to see the television broadcast in the program interface window. The program instructions will explain select the correct input connection, if required.

4. Click the button in the program interface that will begin capturing the digital television broadcast received by the capture card. This will save the digital broadcast data to a digital file, on your computer's hard drive. Stop the capture once the broadcast you want to save has ended. The program instructions will indicate which buttons to click to start and stop the capture. You can select a location on the computer's hard drive where your captured digital television video files are saved.

5. Install and open a DVD burning program. Place a blank DVD in your computer's DVD recorder. Locate the saved digital television broadcast file, and drag it into the DVD burning program interface. Select your DVD recorder in the DVD buring program interface. Click the button in the DVD burning program interface that will begin buring the file to DVD. The program's instructions will identify this button. Once the burning process is completed, you can play the DVD.
