Enjoy a cappuccino at home with the Krups cappuccino machine.
Espresso is a richer drink than brewed coffee, and it is prepared by forcing steam through finely ground espresso beans. Many espresso machines, such as those made by Krups, also include an attachment for steaming milk for cappuccino. Cappuccino is traditionally made using one-third espresso, one-third steamed milk and one-third milk froth. Because of the pressure involved in making cappuccino, espresso machines require more care than a regular coffee maker. By following the proper steps for using the machine, you can have a perfect cappuccino in minutes.
Instructions
1. Remove the boiler cap on the top of the machine.
2. Measure the water and pour it into the tank. You will need at least 3 to 4 oz. for a cup of cappuccino.
3. Close the boiler cap firmly and turn on the machine.
4. Fit the filter into the handled filter holder and rotate it slightly until it secures into place.
5. Place one full measuring spoon of ground espresso into the filter holder and pack it down slightly using the back of the measuring spoon. Make sure you don't overfill the filter or pack the coffee down too firmly.
6. Secure the filter holder in the machine by turning it counter-clockwise until it locks into place.
7. Pour 4 to 6 oz. of very cold milk into a small pitcher.
8. Turn the knob to Steam, and wait for the steam to begin to come out of the nozzle.
9. Immerse the nozzle into the milk and move the pitcher up and down in circular movements to froth the milk. Do not let the nozzle touch the bottom of the pitcher.
10. Set the pitcher of milk aside once it is finished frothing.
11. Place your cup under the filter holder and turn the knob to Coffee.
12. Remove the cup from the machine and turn the selector knob to Off once the espresso stops dripping. Note that it can take up to four minutes after beginning the brew cycle before the espresso starts dripping into the cup.
13. Pour hot steamed milk from your pitcher into your cup of espresso and spoon some milk froth on top.
Tips Warnings
A chilled metal pitcher will work best for producing adequate foam.
Always release all remaining steam from the nozzle and turn the machine off for at least three minutes to cool down before opening the boiler cap or removing the filter holder. To do this, place the nozzle into a pitcher of cold water and turn the knob to Steam until no more steam comes out of the nozzle.
