Transport Propane Cylinders

Propane can be a safe fuel when transported properly.

Propane is a clear gas that works as a fuel that you can use inside and outside of your home. As with any fuel, you must use caution and good sense when it comes to transporting the propane cylinders. You can't just throw them into the trunk of your vehicle. A leak in the pressurized propane tank can be disastrous for you and those around you. You don't not need any specialized equipment to transport the propane cylinders.

Instructions

1. Map out your route before you transport the propane cylinders. Take as many smooth streets as possible to avoid jarring the cylinders while you transport them. This may not always be possible, so drive with caution and always obey posted speed limits.

2. Check the nozzle at the top of the propane cylinder to ensure there are no leaks.

3. Set the propane cylinders upright in the transport vehicle. Place them in a truck bed or on the floor of your backseat. Do not place them in the front seat or trunk, warns the Propane Taxi website.

4. Secure the cylinders so that they cannot topple or move. Strap a bungee cord around the center of them, if necessary, to help keep them from falling over.

5. Keep your windows open during transportation if the cylinder tanks are inside of your vehicle.

6. Remove the propane cylinders from the transportation vehicle when you reach your destination. Never store them inside of a building or the vehicle. Promptly set them outside and away from any flammable substances.
