Fix A Pda Stuck In A Digitizer Calibration Loop

Your PDA is a valuable tool. Unfortunately it can sometimes get stuck in digitizer calibration mode. If you've ever had that happen, you know now that you should back up your PDA regularly. Here are some troubleshooting tips to help you get out of the calibration loop the next time you find yourself stuck there.

Instructions

1. Clean the screen. Examine the edges to make sure there are no pieces of lint lodged between the screen and the frame of the PDA. If there is, pick it out with a pair of tweezers. It may be placing enough weight on the screen to confuse the PDA's calibration system. If you can't get the lint with the tweezers, try slipping a piece of paper between the frame and the screen.

2. Use the "Up," "Down," "Left" and "Right" button instead of the stylus to try to get out of digitizer calibration mode. Sometimes the PDA can pick up the signal from it rather than the screen.

3. Try a soft reset. Unfold a paperclip. Poke it in the reset hole. Hopefully the soft reset takes you to another screen. Go to "Preferences" and tap on the "Digitizer" screen. Work your way through the prompts. If this doesn't solve the problem, move on to the next step.

4. Download a digitizer fix to your computer if you can get out of the calibration loop. Follow the directions for the download, load it into the "Quick Launch" program of you PDA and do a HotSync. Follow the directions on the screen.

5. Continue with a warm reset if necessary. Hold down on the up arrow while poking the paperclip in the reset hole. Hold this position until the PDA reboots in a "safe" mode. As soon as you can get to a screen other than the digitizer screen, HotSync the digitizer fix program from Step 4.
